Understanding why Horizon needs these permissions and how to grant them

Microphone Access

Horizon needs microphone access to listen for your voice commands and provide AI assistance when you speak to it.

How to grant microphone access:

  1. 1Open System Preferences (or System Settings on macOS Ventura+)
  2. 2Click on Security & Privacy (or Privacy & Security)
  3. 3Select Microphone from the left sidebar
  4. 4Check the box next to Horizon to allow access

Speech Recognition Access

This permission allows Horizon to convert your speech into text for processing AI requests and voice commands.

How to grant speech recognition access:

  1. 1Open System Preferences (or System Settings on macOS Ventura+)
  2. 2Click on Security & Privacy (or Privacy & Security)
  3. 3Select Speech Recognition from the left sidebar
  4. 4Check the box next to Horizon to allow access

Audio Capture Access

Horizon uses audio capture to process system audio and provide context-aware assistance during meetings and calls.

How to grant audio capture access:

  1. 1Open System Preferences (or System Settings on macOS Ventura+)
  2. 2Click on Security & Privacy (or Privacy & Security)
  3. 3Select Microphone from the left sidebar
  4. 4Ensure Horizon is checked for audio input access

Accessibility Access

Accessibility permissions allow Horizon to read screen content, detect active applications, and provide contextual assistance based on what you're working on.

How to grant accessibility access:

  1. 1Open System Preferences (or System Settings on macOS Ventura+)
  2. 2Click on Security & Privacy (or Privacy & Security)
  3. 3Select Accessibility from the left sidebar
  4. 4Click the lock icon and enter your password to make changes
  5. 5Check the box next to Horizon to allow access

You may need to restart Horizon after granting accessibility permissions for them to take effect.

Screen Recording Access

Screen recording permission enables Horizon to analyze your screen content, including images and text, to provide intelligent assistance based on what you're viewing.

How to grant screen recording access:

  1. 1Open System Preferences (or System Settings on macOS Ventura+)
  2. 2Click on Security & Privacy (or Privacy & Security)
  3. 3Select Screen Recording from the left sidebar
  4. 4Click the lock icon and enter your password to make changes
  5. 5Check the box next to Horizon to allow access
  6. 6Restart Horizon for the changes to take effect
⚠️

Screen recording access requires an app restart. Horizon will automatically prompt you to restart when this permission is granted.
